Child Relief and You (RDU Chapter) organized a concert of Bhajans and Ghazals by Anup Jalota on May 18th 2003. The concert was attended by around 600 people from all over North Carolina, with a few people coming from South Carolina as well. Starting at 4:15 pm, the concert continued well into the night ending around 8:30 pm. Sangeeta Singh from Morrisville, NC said "I am impressed with the professional manner in which CRY organized the concert. How can I help CRY?"

image Shri Anup Jalota was accompanied by Ustad Kadar Khan on the Tabla and Bashir Ahmed Khan on the Banjo. Anup Jalota lived up to his title of "Bhajan Samraat" and held the audience spellbound with his selection of several popular bhajans. Suresh Shetty from Cary, NC said "Anup ji sang all my favorite bhajans. I am very satisfied". Anup's rendition of popular bhajans like "Aisi Lagi Lagan", "Maiya Mori Main Nahin Makhan Khayo" and "Jag Mein Sundar Hain Do Naam" had the audience asking for more.

Ghazal enthusiasts were also satisfied as Anup Jalota enthralled them with performances of some popular numbers like "Hothon Se Choo Lo Tum" and "Ishq Mein Hum Tumhe Kya Batayein".

Displaying his versatility, Anup Jalota also sang in Gujarati, Punjabi and Bengali. In a performance any entertainer would be envious of, Anup Jalota often had the audience in raptures with his inimitable style of combining humorous anecdotes with his performance.

During the break, the audience was entertained on Tabla by Ustad Ayub Khan, and by melodious Ghazals and Thumri by Sunil Kumar Mungi.

This concert was made possible by the individual efforts of the CRY volunteers, generous members of the triangle community and due to the contribution of our sponsors: Patel Brothers, Tower India Restaurant, Taj Mahal Indian Cuisine, NC Center for South Asian Studies (Afroz Taj).
